I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what I would like to include in my blog. I want people to come back and I want you to be INTERESTED. My ramblings are not going to be enough for that. Well, not all the time. I can be quite entertaining at times. 😀
My thoughts are that I will probably do Wordless Wednesday because it is AWESOME. If you have never checked it out you should. All sorts of fun stuff. Just click HERE to see what I mean.
I also think I will be sending out a brief questionnaire to artists that I really admire so I can show them off. I mean, how do you know how cool I am if you don’t know how cool the company I keep is? If you are an artist and would like to appear here just send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a link to your stuff. Obviously those I have known and loved forever will get first dibs but I am always open to new artists.
I will also chat a bit about BOTH Etsy817 and my new group 919 Creates. Etsy817 has some wonderful artists that I will be sharing with you. As for 919 Creates, I hope you will be interested in how we start this group from the ground up or even if it ever DOES get off the ground.
Of course, I will also share what I’m doing, what I’m reading, what’s bugging me, upcoming shows, things I find on Funky Finds (which is also very cool and you should check out by clicking HERE), awesomeness from Pinterest and Etsy… Wow, I should have plenty to write about.
If there’s anything I missed that you would like to read about let me know and I will see what I can come up with. As always your comments, opinions and ideas are what keep me going so don’t forget to let me know you’re reading!
If, like me, you grew up in the mid-west this title may conjure up memories of summers waiting in traffic jams or praying you didn’t run into the orange barrels OR the cement wall that ran on either side of you all through the warmer months on the highways. Welp, this summer I have also been Under Construction. A lot of things have been changing.
First: We packed up the family and, moved from Arlington, TX to Durham, NC. It’s a good thing. My husband applied for a job at UNC that he just couldn’t ignore and, no real surprise to me, he got it. I loved Arlington and all my friends. My crafty self is seriously going to miss my friends at Etsy 817 and all that they have going on this year.
And B) I’m trying to change up my branding a bit. I’ve always been all over the place. I did what I thought was fun. Put together papers that I loved and created my decoupage items. I didn’t really have a ‘look’ I could claim as mine.
I’m trying to change that. It’s in the works and I will be sharing a lot more soon. Here is a sneak peek:
In order to facilitate my new crafty-self I have joined a new Etsy group, NC Street Team on Etsy.com. I have also applied for a local craft show that I was invited to The Howliday Shop 2011. I will keep you posted as to my status with that one.
I really am excited about all these changes and I hope to meet some more crafty friends here in the area… Although my etsy817 buds have set the bar pretty high… I hope you will stick with me as I try to figure all this out in a brand new place. I will be reviewing local craft stores, craft shows and artists. I will also be checking in with etsy817 from time to time as they prepare for their first big show Handmade Holidays. And yes… I am VERY jealous that I’m going to miss that one.
It’s good to be back. Stay tuned!
I have been slacking on the blog… Please forgive me. I am trying to prepare for my first show with Etsy817. If you haven’t heard me mention it before you haven’t been listening. I am excited to be a part of this event. We should have 25 artists plus some of the Farmer’s Markets regular vendors. This means that not only can you buy tons of great handmade items but you can also purchase some delicious baked goods and produce.
The event will be bike friendly, dog friendly, kid friendly, elderly friendly, hipster-dufus friendly… You get the picture. We want EVERYONE to come out and have a good time. There will even be a musical performance or two. Tell your friends. You will find the market on 215 E. Front Street, Arlington, Texas.
Here is a sneak peek of what you may see on Saturday:
This is by NO means everyone that will be there. Stay tuned for more vendors to be listed within the next day or so.
Hope to see ya Saturday!
Sorry I wasn’t more of a busy blogger last week. Son and hubby both had Spring Break. It was a little more chaotic than usual.
I was super excited to be able to go to yet another fabulous Craft Show featuring Texas artists. The Cowtown Indie Bazaar was held at the Will Rogers Memorial Center on Saturday, March 19. Yet again Etsy817 was represented. Here are those members. Click on their picture to get to their shop. You shall not be disappointed!
I do have to mention that they were ALSO at Funky Finds and I didn’t get a photo. The same is true for my next artist…
Weeds & Wildflowers
As you can see we were, yet again, well represented. I’m always impressed with the talent we have. I will have a longer write up about this show sometime this week. For now please visit the above artists and remember to buy handmade.
What large Craft/Art shows have you attended and what did you like or dislike about them?
This past weekend was the Funky Finds Spring Fling but this coming weekend is The Cowtown Indie Bazaar. The Cowtown takes place on Saturday, March 19 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort worth and takes place from 9am to 5pm. It is free but parking may cost anywhere from $3 to $5. They also have amazingly cool goodie bags that they pass out to the first 50 people through the door. As always the event is kid friendly.
I am proud to announce that we have some Etsy817 folks taking part in this event as well. They are:
Weeds and Wildflowers
Hopefully I haven’t missed anyone. I also hope that you will stop by and say hi to these talented folks. You won’t be disappointed.
If you have never heard of Funkyfinds.com or attended any of their craft shows let me tell you… You are missing out! On Saturday March 12 & Sunday March 13 they will be holding their 3rd annual Funky Finds Spring Fling in Fort Worth, Texas. Etsy817 will be represented by the following members. I hope you will stop by and check them out. You can also click on the photos top visit their Etsy shops.

This is always an amazing show with a ton of talent. Not in Texas? You can still check out FunkyFinds.com for all sorts of handy craft info.
You may be wondering who I am and how I got involved in this blog… Even if you aren’t, I’m going to tell you.
I started blogging a couple of years ago at 1 Crafty Mom and 2 Ornery Kids. It was about a little bit of everything. I found I was scattered so I decided to focus which is something that’s not easy for me when there are bright shiny objects around. That’s where FunkyFeisty comes from.
The name comes from my crafting business Funky & Feisty Home Decor and More. I like to play with glue and paper and found objects to create things for people’s homes. I do a lot of custom work and gift items.
Back to the blog: FunkyFeisty is my way of sharing the things I love about the arts and crafts world. I will share book reviews, artist information, how-tos, tips, show updates and reviews and a lot of stuff about my Etsy Team, Etsy817. I will also share some of my work. There will be more. It’s a work in progress. I’m discovering new things to cover all the time.
As for me: I am a mid-western girl living in Arlington, Texas. I am married and have two young kids. I have one that is still at home so I spend my days with her. I do work part-time for a major bookstore. My crafting business grew out of not only my love of creating but out of my cheapness and the need to come up with kids’ birthday presents week after week. I started with cute personalized picture frames for everyone. The next year I couldn’t give picture frames any more so I moved on to treasure boxes re-purposed from old cigar boxes.
As I mentioned I am a member of Etsy817. I am also a vendor at the Downtown Bloomington Farmer’s Market in IL. That’s a summer gig. I share a space with the very talented Lauren Lowell of loved again…. Coming up I hope to become a regular vendor at the Downtown Arlington Farmer’s Market here in Texas.
I love to do the face to face stuff and am working on doing better with my on-line shop. If there is anything else you want to know please don’t hesitate to ask. I also would love your comments and feedback on my posts.
If you like what you see don’t hesitate to tell your friends. Thanks!
