52 Weeks of Mail

Last year I came across a Facebook group called 52 Weeks of Mail. I signed up and… well… never sent any mail! I have signed up again this year. I really intend on sending out some mail. May not send it EVERY week but maybe I will send a couple pieces one week to make up for the weeks I fail.

As part of this I signed up for something else I found called Postcrossing. You sign up and create a profile and start signing up to send out postcards to an international list of members. I’m hoping to get some cool postcards and mail art. Seems like a cool idea. I will let you know if it works.

If you think this would be fun I encourage you to sign up. If you want to share your address here and maybe get some mail from other readers feel free.

My address is Cheryl 1120 Orchard Oriole Ln., Durham, NC 27713

I would LOVE some original mail art pieces or cool postcards from your neck of the woods. Send me something and I will try to return the favor.

Happy Pen-palling!

My Own Little Witchy Poo

My Own Little Witchy Poo

On a somewhat dreary day in October I took the girl out in her Halloween costume for a little bit of fun. We could have kept going but it started getting chilly. Before we knew it dreary turned to dismal and we were very happy to have gotten back in the car before the rain started.

Now, if you are in the Durham area and would like to get some fun pictures of yourself OR your kiddos done just shoot me an email at cnavphoto@yahoo.com.
Remember I LOOOOVE to hear from you. Let me know what you think.

A Halloween Treasury

I have been a wee bit busy lately so I have neglected you. Sorry about that. Today’s post is short but I hope you will dig it. It is a recent collection I made on ETSY. If you like what you see just click the image and it should take you right to the Etsy site. Hope you enjoy. I also think that the Wonder Woman Costume must have sold…

Mulling It Over

I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what I would like to include in my blog. I want people to come back and I want you to be INTERESTED. My ramblings are not going to be enough for that. Well, not all the time. I can be quite entertaining at times.😀

My thoughts are that I will probably do Wordless Wednesday because it is AWESOME. If you have never checked it out you should. All sorts of fun stuff. Just click HERE to see what I mean.

I also think I will be sending out a brief questionnaire to artists that I really admire so I can show them off. I mean, how do you know how cool I am if you don’t know how cool the company I keep is? If you are an artist and would like to appear here just send an email to funkyfesity@yahoo.com with a link to your stuff. Obviously those I have known and loved forever will get first dibs but I am always open to new artists.

I will also chat a bit about BOTH Etsy817 and my new group 919 Creates. Etsy817 has some wonderful artists that I will be sharing with you. As for 919 Creates, I hope you will be interested in how we start this group from the ground up or even if it ever DOES get off the ground.

Of course, I will also share what I’m doing, what I’m reading, what’s bugging me, upcoming shows, things I find on Funky Finds (which is also very cool and you should check out by clicking HERE), awesomeness from Pinterest and Etsy… Wow, I should have plenty to write about.

If there’s anything I missed that you would like to read about let me know and I will see what I can come up with. As always your comments, opinions and ideas are what keep me going so don’t forget to let me know you’re reading!

I’m Back!

I’m Back!

It’s been a year. I’ve missed my blog. I have another blog. It’s focused on my photography. It’s a bit to narrow for me. I’ve decided that I will come back here and combine both my love of photography with my love of artsy fartsy.
I’m hoping you will start coming back and checking on my journey to find my inner artiste here in the Durham area. I will be letting you know about upcoming events and how I am (or how I am putting OFF) preparing for them. I’m also hoping to feature other artists here in the area as well as some of my old artsy friends from the Arlington, TX area.
I have also been working on starting a group for Durham area artists to get together and bounce ideas off of, chat with, encourage and inspire one another. It is called 919 Creates. I will tell you more about that another day.
I’m out to find myself. I’m open for suggestions. I love your comments and feedback. I’ve missed you!!!!
One of the things I have been concentrating on since moving here to Durham just over a year ago is my photography. You may remember that I received my first camera when I was 7. I have had one ever since. No one is safe from my lens. Bwahahahhahha.😉

Would love your feedback. I will be sharing more of what I have been doing as time goes on.

(Not so) Wordless Wednesday

I can’t believe a whole week has gone by since my last post. I apologize for that. I have been busy though. I am working on items for a craft fair in November as well as trying to get Cheryl Navalinsky Photography up and running. I have been so energized as a delve back into the photo world. I am remembering why I had loved it so much to begin with. I am freezing memories for people. pausing moments that they can hold for a lifetime (or two, or three).

I am lying in bed at night with ideas bouncing around. I need to get up and write them down before I can go to sleep. They are ideas for posing. Ideas for locations. Ideas for props. Then it starts to feed into my craft life. I have ideas for new projects. Techniques I would like to try. Gift ideas.

I feel refreshed in my creative life. I am being inspired. I am excited. I could do this for a living. Not sure why I had put photography back on the shelf for so long but it’s come out now and, with some dusting off,  I am determined to make it work.

In the meantime I hope you will enjoy my Wordless Wednesday post.

Please stop by the Wordless Wednesday site and check out some more offerings for this week. Just click <HERE>
